What is the difference between a 'campaign' and a 'target audience'?

Both of these terms are used throughout Core iQ and our documentation. When we refer in the platform to a 'campaign', we are actually referring to a one-off communication sent to customers or members through an Actionable Report. Campaigns are single-instance communications, and the potential recipients are set when pulling the report. A 'target audience' is an ongoing combination of an audience and a schedule that queues communications as often as daily. Once your import occurs, all audiences are updated and anyone that qualifies for a touchpoint on the schedule for that audience can receive a communication. 'Target audiences' are ongoing and will queue new communications every time your import occurs. Typically, the audience is not known beforehand, but can be audited by checking which items queued from the schedule attached to that audience.
