Objective:
In this article, we will be talking about how to manage non-customer (Lead & Prospect) profiles in Core iQ. We will explore the following topics:
- The difference between a Lead profile and a Prospect profile.
- How to make changes to the contact information for your non-customers and what that affects.
- How to manage the List associations for your non-customers.
What is the difference between a Lead and a Prospect?
Core iQ makes a distinction between two different types of non-customers in the system. There are Leads and there are Prospects. The main difference between these two non-customer types is Leads come in via list uploads, and Prospects come in via list upload (initially) or via creation in the Opportunity module. This is because a Prospect in Core iQ is any non-customer that has an Opportunity attached to them, even if that Opportunity is closed or removed. The addition of an Opportunity to a Lead will permanently move that non-customer up the chain into the Prospect status. This allows for that record to be eligible for all of the different Opportunity-based features in Core iQ.
What can I edit on the non-customer profile screen?
The non-customer Profile screen allows you to edit a number of different items for a non-customer. If you have the permission (check with your Core iQ Admin if you do not), then you should be able to create/edit the following information for any non-customer profile:
- Name fields (FirstName, MiddleName, LastName, FullName)
- Contact Information (Address fields, Email, Phone fields)
- List Associations
- Opportunities
- Notes
All of this information can be modified and updated in real-time, allowing you to make immediate changes to records that will take effect in campaigns you are about to queue. These fields are still subject to the requirements that are outlined in our List Upload article, but these shouldn't be any different than what you already expect in Core iQ.
If you use our Opportunities module, then you will find any changes that are made to this parent record will be filtered down to all Opportunities, allowing you to keep and maintain a single parent record that holds the accurate contact information for the Prospect. Be aware that when you modify this record, it will influence all related Opportunities for this profile.
You will also notice that you can now merge profiles in the platform, allowing you to condense one or more records into a single instance. This feature is outlined in our other article, found here.
How to manage list associations for non-customers
As we outlined above, you are able to manage a record's association with any current list in Core iQ via the List Associations area on their profile. You will notice this area is also present on all Customer/Member records as well, allowing you to add current customers/members into any list that has been uploaded into the platform. Simply click the Edit Lists button to see a view of all your active lists, and select the associations that you want to add/remove for this record. Once you click SAVE, that association will take effect and you can immediately campaign to this record via the List Associations report.
