How does the Date filter work on the Birthday Report?

The Birthday Report (found under Customer Relationship Reports) is best used when attempting to see which customers are turning a certain age during a set period of time. The main difference between this report and other Core iQ reports is how the BIRTHDAY RANGE field operates. While most date ranges in Core iQ are date specific, the BIRTHDAY RANGE field only pulls the month and day that are in each field. These fields do not register the year that you have chosen. Therefore, you will get the same results if you input 10/1/2017 - 11/1/2017 as if you input 10/1/1922 - 11/1/1930. All Core iQ is looking at is the number of customers in either case that have birthdays between 10/1 and 10/31. In order to drill down to the year, you need to use a second field, AGE RANGE. This field is searching the current age of your customers and is pulled directly from the set birthdate of that customer.

As an example, let’s say we are looking in July for people who will be turning 50 this coming November. In the BIRTHDAY RANGE field, we would input 11/1/2017 and 12/1/2017, and then in the AGE RANGE field, we would want to input 49 and 49. The first field will search for any customer who is having a birthday between 11/1 and 11/30, while the second field will filter out anyone on that list who is not currently 49. Since everyone turning 50 in November is currently 49, we have our exact list.

If you are attempting to find customers of a certain age during the current month, you will need to run the report twice. An example to illustrate this would be if I was looking for the individuals at my financial institution that turned 18 during the month of April. If today was April 15th, I would need to pull the report two times to obtain this list. The first set of criteria would be those that are currently 17, and have a birthday between April 16 and April 30. The second would be those that are currently 18, and had a birthday between April 1 and April 15.
