Within an employee's profile in Core iQ, there is an option to assign a Supervisor for each individual in the platform. This field is one that we get a lot of questions about, and it has significant implications in the platform in only two instances:
If you give employee's Limited Access
For employees who are granted only Limited Access on their Core iQ profiles, the Supervisor dropdown can have a very large effect on what they are able to view within the platform. Limited Access in Core iQ means that the given employee will only be able to see the accounts and balances that they are directly associated with. However, anyone that is marked as a Supervisor of another employee will be able to see not only their own assigned accounts, but also those of their direct reports. This gives Supervisors access to the data relating to their 'team' within your financial institution, and is therefore useful for managers and directors who still need Limited Access within Core iQ.
If you use Core iQ's Opportunity Management and give employees Limited Access
If you are one of our customers that chooses to utilize our Opportunity Management module, then Supervisor assignments will also affect your employees using this area. If an employee is listed as the Supervisor for another employee, they will be able to see not only their assigned opportunities, but also those of any of their direct reports. This allows managers and directors to see all of the opportunities currently being worked by their 'team' in Core iQ.
